Information on BARD's compressed DOQs

The compressed DOQs ( also known as COQs for Compressed Orthophoto Quadrangle )
range in size from 2.5 Megs to just over 5 Megabytes using JPEG compression.
You can view the DOQs in Netscape after downloading by renaming the extension to jpg.

To use the DOQs in uncompressed format, if desired, you can uncompress them using JPEG decompression software available from the Independent JPEG Group's via anonymous FTP.  After decompression, the DOQs can reach a size of up to 50 Megabytes each. The old header format files are approximately 25,000 bytes each and are already uncompressed text files.

You can download a decompression application from our site using the links provided below.

Version for DOS executed from the DOS prompt command line.
Version for the Sun computer compiled under Solaris 2.7.

Note: When you save the file to your hard drive, if your browser attempts to write the file as a ".exe" simply rename the file to ".coq" or ".jpg" since it really is a jpeg file and can be displayed using your browser, but may take several minutes depending on the speed of your computer and your network connection.
