  Content Summary: The 7.5-minute Digital Elevation Models (DEM) in this dataset have 10 meter post spacings and are projected in UTM Zone 10, NAD 83. Elevations may be meters or feet. The format is defined by the 1998 DEM Standard ( These ASCII DEMs are further compressed by the UNIX utility, gzip. As of November 14, 2006, the USGS no longer offers Digital Elevation Models.   Content Purpose: Geospatial elevation data are utilized by the scientific and resource management communities for global change research, hydrologic modeling, resource monitoring, mapping, and visualization applications.
